The Orkney Tour
You may wish to extend your trip with a guided tour of Orkney. Two nights in hotel accommodation in the township of Stromness with its narrow lanes, great nightlife and atmosphere, combined with two days touring the "Land of the Vikings".
We leave on the 8:45am Saturday ferry from Thurso and return on the Evening ferry on Sunday. The voyage is 90 mins each way and we pass the Old Man of Hoy, a red sandstone sea stack rising 450ft from the sea.
While on the island we visit two neolithic World Heritage Sites, the uniquely preserved settlement of Skara Brae, inhabited between 3100-2500BC, and Maeshowe a chambered cairn and passage grave that contains the richest collection of runic inscriptions in the world. We also visit the wonderful Italian Chapel built by Italian POW's during World War II.
