The Great Escape Tours

Q  What motorcycles do you use?

We have a selection of 500cc electric start Royal Enfields with left or right hand gearchange.

Q  Can I bring my own bike?

Yes. See Your Way and Costs.

Q  Whats the weather like?

Our summers have been steadily improving and although we cannot gaurantee good weather generally the trips are blessed with their share of dry riding.

Q  Where do we stop at night?

We always overnight at a town or village that offers good food and some nightlife. Ullapool is always a favourite.

Q  Can you arrange other activities?

Theres a host of activities that can be organised, from trout & salmon fishing to hill walking and climbing. You can also extend your tour to include the Orkney Islands.

Q  How much luggage can I take?

A back up vehicle with spare motorcycles accompanies the trip and the majority of your luggage can be transported for you. Each bike also has a rack & tank bag for your day to day needs.

Q  Can I bring my partner/child?

All bikes can be fitted with a dual seat if required.

Q  How many people on each tour?

We like a maximum of six clients a guide, with the back up driver/mechanic it makes for a more personal experience.

Q  Do you take club bookings?

Yes we do, but at least four weeks notice is required.

Q  What happens in the evenings?

After the days ride everyone gets the chance to settle into their room (your luggage will be waiting at the hotel) then we usually meet for a meal, a wee dram and some local craic in the bar.

Q  I'm keen on fishing, if i bring a rod will there be an opportunity to use it?

Certainly, most of our lochs are free and a couple of hours fishing at sunset should bring you a nice breakfast!

Q  I haven't ridden a bike for 18 years, will I have time to aquaint myself with the Enfield before we hit the road (not literally!)?

We usually have half an hour on Monday morning in the large car park of your hotel to settle in on the bikes. But dont worry we wont leave until you are 100% happy. If you are really rusty we will have a short jaunt the evening before leaving.

Q  Whats the furthest we travel between stops?

About 30 miles.

Q  Whats the best way to get to Thurso?

Personally I love the train. Theres a sleeper service from London Euston to Inverness and the connection to Thurso is a fine journey through Strathalladale and along the East coast. you can fly to Wick Airport from airports all over the UK and we can pick you up and take you to your hotel. The car journey up the A9 from Edinburgh is one of Scotlands finest and a great introduction to the Highlands of Scotland.
